Providing compassionate and comprehensive care to meet your and your child's goals
MEET SIPPORAH
Born and raised in New York, Sipporah has devoted her time and energy to helping others from a young age. During college, she pursued occupational therapy as a way to combine her love of science and psychology. Sipporah received her master’s degree in occupational therapy from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she was awarded the Rudin scholarship and was elected graduation speaker in 2010.
When Sipporah had her first child in 2011, her struggles with breastfeeding inspired her to concentrate on combining her OT skills with a way to help other moms with lactation. Since then, Sipporah has focused her career in pediatric-OT, pairing excellent clinical skills with a creative, loving, and holistic approach. Over the years Sipporah has gained a wide range of pediatric experience from early intervention, sensory gym settings, preschool, and school based therapy. Sipporah is trained in sensory integration therapy, reflex integration (RMT and MNRI), NDT, TMR for torticollis, brain gym, visual vestibular rehab, yoga for the special needs child, therapeutic listening, assessment and treatment of tethered oral tissues, oral motor therapy for infants, is a certified size matters handwriting therapist, and has received extensive training in a wide variety of lactation areas. Sipporah is devoted to continuing education and believes that the moment you stop learning is the moment you stop growing.
Sipporah is also passionate about research and has worked on collecting data for pediatric developmental assessments including a new sensory processing assessment soon to be published.
Sipporah first started working with breastfeeding mothers in 2012 as a way to support friends who were also struggling with lactation. Through that work, it became clear to Sipporah how dynamic the field of lactation was working with both the mother and baby and knew it would be the perfect marriage with OT. In 2017, Sipporah used her knowledge of breastfeeding and her OT training in group therapy to start Breastfeeding Moms Meetup, a local support group for breastfeeding mothers. Sipporah also runs a free breastfeeding lending library in her hometown of Teaneck, New Jersey, providing pumps, pillows, and other breastfeeding supplies to those who need. In 2020 Sipporah officially became an International board certified lactation consultant and opened her private practice. Sipporah specializes in functional assessment of tongue tie/tots in infants, oral neuromuscular re-education, tummy time, and reflex integration for the breastfed infant. Sipporah has a special interest in breastfeeding prenatal education, low milk supply, oversupply, torticollis and breastfeeding, allergies and breastfeeding and supporting mothers transitioning back to work.
Sipporah lives in Teaneck, NJ with her husband and 4 young children. Sipporah looks forward to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to help you and your child reach their goals.
